January Life update

Christmas is over and life is back to the routine. I enjoyed Christmas, it was good times. I’m still getting used to the transition of Christmas being about the next generation of Deadwylers and not my generation. It’s about watching my nieces and nephews having a blast and just loving the holidays. Always nice to see family though. I got to play a lot of Rock Band with my cousins. My cousins are really cool and I love music so the combination was a rocking good time!

This month in music is boring. No good CD’s seem to be coming out. However, I have found a couple things from 2007 that I missed to keep me my need for new music satisfied. I was wondering what ever happened to Midtown. They were a punk band that I liked. Well, I found out they broke up and the lead vocalist went on to make Cobra Starship. Now Cobra Starship is a Rock/Punk/Hip-hop/dance band. They have a unique sound that I haven’t heard yet but I enjoy it. It is like Midtown meets The Faint. I even hear Nelly influences at time. It’s an unusual blend but I’m really enjoying it.

I also ordered Seldoms CD Romance off of half.com. Seldom was a band I heard my first year of college in a concert with Pedro the Lion. I really dug their show and picked up their EP. It is 5 of my favorite songs I own. Then I never heard about them again. Well, while hunting around a couple months ago I found out about a full length album that they released before breaking up. So far I’m really loving the album and grieving their break up.
In more sad news, the house is about to be knocked from three down to two again. That’s right, Ted has decided to move out leaving Gary and me by our lonesomes. So now I am back on the roommate hunt which isn’t a fun ride. I hope I find someone soon because mainly I need the money :) .

Next in life is what is pretty much on par with what everyone does in January. Oh, it is the month of dieting. Yes, for those of us who are still going strong 1 month into the grind.  Things are progressing well and I’ll probably give an update just on this topic as it is a big one for me.

You’ve heard about the stolen wii already.  That sucked and I continually get re-angry about it.  I’ve had no luck finding the cluprit.

Tonight is the Lost Party.  Yeah!  People from my church are really into it.  So maybe that’ll make me enjoy it more.  I’ve always liked it but never been a fanatic.

More happened in January but I want to get this post out before January ends so, here it is.

Jimmy Eat World and Paramore touring together

1.jpgI’ve wanted to see Jimmy Eat World in concert for a LONG time and have never had the chance. I’m still kicking myself for missing them with Blink 182 many years ago. And for missing them at Warped Tour Orlando a ways back because they played one of the first sets while I was stuck in traffic. Well, I’m not missing this one (unless they don’t come near Orlando) with Paramore (one of my new favorite bands) on tour with them. Hopefully they pick up a good 3rd act as well. I can’t wait!

Parking at the Gym – Things I find Funny #1

p0001684-md.jpgI’ve decided to start a blogging topic “Things I find Funny”. I almost did “Things that make me laugh” but these aren’t necessarily laugh worthy. They are not all haha funny, but rather unusual funny or just oddities about people in general. We’ll see if this actually lasts more than one post though.

Today’s Thing I find funny is parking at the gym. I’ve been going to the gym a lot recently as everyone does in January and have noticed something. People driving up and down the close rows to the gym to get a good parking spot. You’re going to the gym! Why not park on the far end of the lot? Is the extra 100 feet of walking going to mess up your workout?

I’m serious. I go to a fairly busy gym, so I usually have to park far away, but there are alway people circling around or just sitting in a closer row trying to grab and nice close spot. They are wasting time they could be using working out to find a spot that prevents them from working out. I find the irony funny and gives me a chuckle every time I go.

Though I can’t deny that I feel great when I get a close spot that just happens to be available when I get there. It must be a competitive thing about getting the best spot and nothing to do with not having to walk too far.

My Wii was stolen!

wii with controller.jpgThat’s right. Somebody stole my Wii. And that’s not all. They took 2 controllers, the controller charger, a nunchuck, 6 wii games, 30 gamecube games and all the virtual console games on it. Ready for the crazy part. They did it while I was home!

I work from home so I’m here quite often. I came out for lunch at around noon and watched some TV with my roommate while I ate and went back to work in my room at 1:00PM. I closed my door, my dog was with me, and had music playing. I come out at 3:00PM and all my Wii stuff is gone. I’m still shocked! It’s quite unnerving. I feel very violated and taken advantage of. It’s not a fun feeling.

I filed a police report with the serial number which covers all pawn shops or trade in shops it could show up in. I am also keeping an eye out on all the auction sights for new listings in my area. Hopefully something will turn up. More than the loss of my belongings I am outraged by the injustice of it. I want justice!

One of the disappointing points to this is that Nintendo let me down. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a bit of a Nintendo fanatic and have been since I was a child. I was holding onto hope that Nintendo would be able to do something. Here’s why. The Wii is an online system. They also can identify what wii is online when it comes online. I know this because when I buy a Virtual console game, it shows up in my “My Nintendo” list of games on Nintendo’s website. So obviously Nintendo can tell where a certain serial number is and what’s going on with it. I’m pretty tech savvy and know this wouldn’t be hard to trace for Nintendo.

I called Nintendo customer support and there stance is “We can’t help you.” According to them there is nothing they can do. They can’t even get me my Virtual Console games and Wii Points if I were to get a new system. What really ticks me off is the fact that they kept saying that there was nothing they do. They wish they could but they can’t. This is just a bold face lie. They could do something, they just don’t want to. Even worse, the Nintendo Rep on the phone was completely unsympathetic. At least act like you care that this happened to someone.

Again, what really tweaks me is that they won’t do something. Nintendo just lost my business. Seriously. I know apple does something for stolen laptops. Nintendo should have a service for those who registered there product to be able to locate where their Wii has connected.

I’m angry, thanks for listening to me vent.
