The Grind – The Last Day

work_grind.pngThe grind is almost over; today is the last day. I worked 11 hours on Wed. and 10 hours yesterday and today will probably go an hour or two long. Will I get everything done? It looks as though I will. I’m really happy with my work these past 2 weeks and I think people will love it. We’ll have to wait and see. I’m excited for this work week to be over because it’s been draining and frustrating at times, but right now I’m on a high note and feel like bouncing off walls. That may be the Starbucks coffe provided by Constance for our office (which people are loving and is far greater than I ever imagined). That may be because it’s Friday. But I’m going with it’s the Rage Against the Machine Playing on my i-tunes. “Now you do what they told ya!”

The Grind – The Deadline

PULLHAIR.jpgHave to hit a deadline by the end of this work week. That will probably mean late working days. It also means my brain is hurting a lot because I’m working at double speed. This burns me out quickly and I sometimes have to take a quick five minute break to gather back my sanity. This is why I’m posting in case you were wondering. I see myself working at least one 12 hour day this week. We’ll see though, things are going decent so far but snags always come up and make things take longer.

Dashboard Confessional – Dusk and Summer

It’s been quite a while since Dashboard has put out an album (about 3 years). I loved Dashboards early acoustic stuff. I also loved when he used to sing for Further Seems Forever. My favorite album he did was the So Impossible EP. A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar was good by my least favorite and I really missed the Dashboard I used to know and love.

You could say I had high hopes for this album. I know he’s sticking with the full band thing (which as much as I don’t like that decision, it’s probably the best way to go as far as making money is concerned) and I was hoping for a better blending of his older style with the full band.

I’ve listened to the album a good 10 times. I was very disappointed my first listen through. Then after about my 3rd or 4th listen I began to like some things about it. Now I think I have a good grasp on the album. First thing I need to say is this album is too short. For an album to be less than 12 tracks (this one is 10) it better be incredible. I’m also upset that it’s been 3 years and there is only 10 new songs. How about the actually music?

The album is good. Actually, it’s probably better than good. It’s definitely better than A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar. But I wanted amazing. Maybe my hopes were too high. At least the album comes with one track that exceeds in quality. The track “So Long, So Long” has the singer from Counting Crows guest sing on the song. That song alone makes the album tons better. I also like the track “Don’t Wait” that they have been playing on the radio.

He did do one acoustic track which I appreciated, but once again it was just good and not great. I wanted more from this album but it was still better than I expected. If you want this album expect a good album that you will enjoy but you won’t be blown away by any means.
