Walking Wounded

So I know no one who reads my blogs really cares much about video games but I still like posting about them. Today Nintendo announced the real name of there next system, which was codenamed ‘Revolution’. It is called the Nintendo Wii (pronounced ‘we’ or ‘weeeeee!!’). What do I think? First thoughts were I hated it. Everytime I look at it I see WWII. Thats probably because I’m not used to seeing it and people’s minds go to the first word they recognize when they see a word with ‘missing’ letters. Others have mistaken it for Wifi and thought the ‘f’ was accidently left out.

So far everyone seems to hate it. The ‘wee wee’ jokes are out of control on all forums. “Wii hate it”. “Have you seen my Wii?” The jokes go on and on and get cruder and cruder.

Think Nintendo saw this coming? How could they not? IGN, Slashdot, and Digitpress are littered with people who hate it. Nintendo’s official forums is about the only place I’ve found people who like the name.

Back to what I think. Though I originally hated it, right now (30 min. later) I’m getting used to it and even begining to like it. Especially after watching the ‘commercial’ and reading what they think about it — I really see what they are going for.

So I think it’s going to grow on me and I’ll end up liking the name, but I don’t think the same of others. I think most people are going to hate it and forever hold it against Nintendo. We’ll see what happens.

Yep, I moved (just my blog). I will probably move again (sorry), but who knows? I want to come up with a different domain name to use and if I do I’ll move there. But I picked up deadwylers.com about a year ago and never used it so… well, now it’s being put to use.

I love wordpress. It kicks lj’s butt (sorry you ljers). I love having complete control too by having it on my own domain. It’s the main reason I moved.

I have a lot more flexability here. Expect to see many style changes over the next month. Also, expect to see better organized posting. Oh, and very importantly, more pictures!

My new niece Catherine Bliss Deadwyler (called Cate) was born on April 13, 2006 and weighed 6 pounds 9 ounces. This makes me Uncle X5.

There is a serious lack of good bands with girl vocals. Today I found a new one that you should check out.

They are called Flyleaf.

Pretty good for a debut album and they are the only ones I’ve heard try this style with a girl singer. She kinda has an Avril Lavign-style voice but the music is much harder than Avril’s. In fact she even screams (very, very well I might add. I didn’t believe it at first). She doesn’t scream as much as I hoped for the rest of the album after “I’m so sick.” So ya, check it out.

Oh, and if you like firefox or hate internet explorer, this video is good for a jolly ol’ LOL.
