June Life update

So anyone who promises that they will start updating their blog regularly, never does. It’s inevitable. I’ve seen it happen all to many times. I am one of the greatest culprits at this so I’ll quit saying what I plan on doing with the blog. In fact I forgot about the blog until my Aunt Laura commented and I got an e-mail. Then I was like, “oh yeah, the blog.” A good bit has happened so let’s get started.

I got laid off last month. So I have been unemployed for about a month now. This has occupied the majority of my time. Honestly I had no idea how much time unemployment can take. I’ve been searching, applying, talking to head hunters/recruiters, and going to interviews all the time. It is without a doubt the most stressful thing I have ever experienced. Buying a house was worse but only lasted a couple days. This goes on for weeks and is such a roller-coaster. So my anxiety level is off the charts. Every job I’ve had I got very easily and they just fell into my lap so this is the first time I’ve really had to pursue one. I’m trying to find a place I want to work but I also just need a job, and that dilemma is the most difficult part. We’ll see how it goes.

In good news I have a new roommate John who just moved a week ago. So now I have two roommates again with Gary still residing here. One, this is good timing for me financially to be receiving the rent each month while I’m unemployed. Two, John is a really good friend of mine. In fact we seem to keep connecting on many levels and it’s only been a week but has honestly been wonderful to have him here.

On that note, I’ve really been blessed this year with friends. I have five guys that I talk to almost daily. You know those fiends that you tell everything to and you feel you can fully depend on and who can fully depend on you? I have five close guy friends like that. It’s truly awesome. Beyond that I have a killer small group at church. We do things every week as a group outside of our “traditionally Bible study” meetings and really are a close community. I’ve also got to develop the closest female relationships I’ve ever had that weren’t Girlfriends. I truly feel blessed with people that care about me right now. Which is so important as I’m going through such a rough time.

Those are the major points of the last couple months. Theres plenty of other things like my drive up to Kansas but I don’t want to long of post so those will have to wait if they come at all.

April Life update

This is actually the 3rd life update I’ve written in the past couple months but both of the previous two accidentally got deleted. If it happens a third time, I may lose my mind. This will be a bullet point update as there is just way too much to say.
I’ve been coaching soccer for a couple months now for a local U12 rec team. I love it! It’s been a blast. I’ll dedicate a whole post to this at some point.

I have a new roommate John, who will be moving in in July. Woohoo! He will be a welcome addition. I’m excited to have a 3 roommate living situation again.

I recently went on a trip to the grits festival in st. George, then also visited Charleston and Savannah with my good friends Gary, Amanda, and Julie. It was a wonderful weekend trip and was full of memories.

I’m learning more and more about running sound at H2O. The sound tech guy there is really working hard at teaching me everything. I had no idea just how involved it is. I’m excited about learning more and becoming a goto guy in this area.

I’m still playing bass in the band every third week which is probably my favorite activity in life.

As soon as I decide to allocate funds to it, I will be recording again. I’m always writing new songs with my guitar and have a couple that are ready to be recorded.

I’ve decided to visit my best friend from Middle School Nathan who is currently residing in Memphis. I’m stoked to see him and Memphis is on my list of places I may want to move to some day. This may help me decide.

I’ve lost over 20 pounds since Christmas. Though I gained 20 pounds leading up to Christmas. I’ve been on a low calorie diet. It’s great, eat whatever I want, just not as much as I want. I eat about 6 meals today consisting of about 100-400 calories per meal. It’s working great.

Wii Fit come out next months. I can’t wait! Exercise meets video game.

I’m an Uncle X6 going on X7 by years end. Crazy, I’ll never catch up, lol.

Work got me a new phone. It’s a brand new blackberry. It’s sweet!

My dog is having knee problems. It may be very expensive. Let’s hope it isn’t. I’ll keep ya updated. She’s still as sweet as ever.

I think that’s all for now. I want to start having posts every couple days. We’ll see.

Jimmy Eat World and Paramore touring together

1.jpgI’ve wanted to see Jimmy Eat World in concert for a LONG time and have never had the chance. I’m still kicking myself for missing them with Blink 182 many years ago. And for missing them at Warped Tour Orlando a ways back because they played one of the first sets while I was stuck in traffic. Well, I’m not missing this one (unless they don’t come near Orlando) with Paramore (one of my new favorite bands) on tour with them. Hopefully they pick up a good 3rd act as well. I can’t wait!

My Wii was stolen!

wii with controller.jpgThat’s right. Somebody stole my Wii. And that’s not all. They took 2 controllers, the controller charger, a nunchuck, 6 wii games, 30 gamecube games and all the virtual console games on it. Ready for the crazy part. They did it while I was home!

I work from home so I’m here quite often. I came out for lunch at around noon and watched some TV with my roommate while I ate and went back to work in my room at 1:00PM. I closed my door, my dog was with me, and had music playing. I come out at 3:00PM and all my Wii stuff is gone. I’m still shocked! It’s quite unnerving. I feel very violated and taken advantage of. It’s not a fun feeling.

I filed a police report with the serial number which covers all pawn shops or trade in shops it could show up in. I am also keeping an eye out on all the auction sights for new listings in my area. Hopefully something will turn up. More than the loss of my belongings I am outraged by the injustice of it. I want justice!

One of the disappointing points to this is that Nintendo let me down. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a bit of a Nintendo fanatic and have been since I was a child. I was holding onto hope that Nintendo would be able to do something. Here’s why. The Wii is an online system. They also can identify what wii is online when it comes online. I know this because when I buy a Virtual console game, it shows up in my “My Nintendo” list of games on Nintendo’s website. So obviously Nintendo can tell where a certain serial number is and what’s going on with it. I’m pretty tech savvy and know this wouldn’t be hard to trace for Nintendo.

I called Nintendo customer support and there stance is “We can’t help you.” According to them there is nothing they can do. They can’t even get me my Virtual Console games and Wii Points if I were to get a new system. What really ticks me off is the fact that they kept saying that there was nothing they do. They wish they could but they can’t. This is just a bold face lie. They could do something, they just don’t want to. Even worse, the Nintendo Rep on the phone was completely unsympathetic. At least act like you care that this happened to someone.

Again, what really tweaks me is that they won’t do something. Nintendo just lost my business. Seriously. I know apple does something for stolen laptops. Nintendo should have a service for those who registered there product to be able to locate where their Wii has connected.

I’m angry, thanks for listening to me vent.
